Looking Ahead: What’s in Store for EnergyGigs in 2026

Authored by Jason Assir, CEO EnergyGigs.

As we close out 2025, I’m energized to share what we’re building for you in the year ahead.

We’ve spent this year learning, refining, and getting laser-focused on where EnergyGigs delivers the most value. The result? A clear vision for 2026 that builds on what’s working and addresses what you’ve told us needs to improve. Our team is more committed than ever to this mission, and we’re channeling everything we’ve learned into making EnergyGigs the platform you deserve.

Getting Laser-Focused on Who We Serve

In 2026, we’re doubling down on serving our best customers: companies with immediate project staffing needs. While it’s a big tent that many customer types fit into, we’re finding our ideal customers are B2B service businesses with immediate work demands. For these companies, traditional hiring is too slow and risky—our platform delivers real value by helping them get work done quickly.

We’re bolstering our temporary-to-permanent hiring service and aligning our business model to reduce friction for both companies and candidates. This model serves both sides of our marketplace: companies get to de-risk the hiring process by seeing someone perform before making a full-time commitment, and talented professionals get the chance to prove what they can do rather than hoping a resume makes it through the stack. It’s a win-win that nobody else in our space is offering—no awkward transitions, no starting over with contracts. Just a smooth path from project work to permanent role.

Improving Go-to-Market

Transparency is core to how our business works, so let me be direct: right now, we’re essentially a market without enough buyers. We have talented professionals ready to work, but not enough companies posting opportunities. We’ve heard this feedback from candidates loud and clear, and we’re making deeper investments in our customer acquisition process and team to make that happen. More companies means more projects, more opportunities, and a more vibrant marketplace for everyone.

The AI Elephant in the Room

Let’s talk about AI. Large language models are having a transformative impact across industries—energy included.

AI’s Impact on Work

We’re seeing some shifts in how work gets done:

– Work that used to go to virtual admins is increasingly being handled by AI

– Non-value-added but necessary tasks are being completed by individuals using AI instead of outsourcing to contractors and freelancers

– Some lower-value work that would have previously been posted to EnergyGigs has gone away

Here’s the good news: this isn’t the work EnergyGigs was originally built to solve. We’ve always wanted to support the exciting, intellectually challenging work in the energy industry—work that requires orchestration of multiple stakeholders within enterprises to drive valuable outcomes. That’s exactly where our community excels.

AI’s Transformation of the Energy Industry

But AI isn’t just changing how we work—it’s fundamentally reshaping the energy industry itself. We’re seeing unprecedented partnerships emerge: Google partnering with Fervo Energy for 24/7 clean baseload power through geothermal, Meta striking similar agreements for their data center needs. There’s surging interest in stranded energy assets, a longtime focus of crypto miners and now increasingly critical for data center operations. Proximity and location are becoming strategic advantages in ways they haven’t been before.

This is creating strange bedfellows working together—natural gas turbine manufacturers collaborating with EPCs and data center companies on projects no one would have imagined five years ago. The industry is transforming rapidly, and companies need talent who can navigate this new landscape, bridge these different worlds, and deliver results in uncharted territory.

    How We’re Using AI

On our end, we’ve already invested in AI to streamline the platform experience. Onboarding and profile creation used to require numerous steps across multiple pages—now it’s significantly faster and simpler. We’ll continue integrating AI thoughtfully into our platform workflows, with major improvements to search coming soon. We’re redesigning aspects of the company and candidate experience to align with an AI-enabled world—not because it’s trendy, but because it makes the platform work better for you.

Behind the scenes, we’re using AI tools to accelerate our development and design processes, allowing us to do more with less and ship improvements faster. The goal isn’t to replace the human expertise that makes our energy community valuable—it’s to remove friction and let that expertise shine through more clearly.

    Deeper Technical Content & Community

We’re continuing our monthly webinar series throughout 2026. Our first webinar of the year will be safety-focused—think of it as our version of a safety moment before a meeting. But we also want to provide avenues for candidates to upskill and reskill in areas that are critical for work in energy. If you have ideas about topics that matter most to you, let us know. These sessions will include deeper technical dives on the subjects that are shaping our industry.

We’re also focused on creating opportunities for people to meet in person and connect with companies and each other directly. Through our presence at Greentown Labs, we’re launching Coffee & Conversations on energy topics and networking events. Online work can only go so far, and we’re partnering with organizations and companies to make in-person events valuable for both companies and candidates alike.

    What This Means for You

The future of work in energy is specialized, flexible, and human. While we’re technologists at heart, our plan is to keep EnergyGigs human-first. AI may handle the routine, but the complex challenges that define our industry—building resilient grids, scaling clean energy, managing intricate projects, navigating unprecedented partnerships—require your expertise, judgment, and experience. This is fundamentally human work.

Whether you’re a company looking to de-risk specialized hires or a professional ready to prove what you can do, 2026 is about connecting the right talent with the right opportunities at the right time. We’re building the infrastructure to make that seamless.
